Why Mulberry Silk?
Celebrities use them, Instagrammers love them! Silk pillowcases are not new, but over the past couple of years, their popularity have increased, credited with delivering smooth, shiny hair and wrinkle-free, supple skin.
One of the unique benefits of Mulberry silk is that it is 100% natural, odourless and hypoallergenic. Mulberry silk contains essential amino acids and a special protein known as Sericin that reduces the possibility of allergies.
Mulberry Silk is created by silkworms who feed on Mulberry leaves. The finest silks are Mulberry Silk, some companies will blend Mulberry Silk with other cheaper silks to make a cheaper product.

Satin vs Silk
Satin is a synthetic woven fabric. It uses a weaving technique to achieve a smooth and glossy fabric that feels like silk. It can be made from synthetic materials like polyester and rayon. Since it is made with synthetic fibres, it doesn’t have the extensive product cost that comes with silk and usually cheaper to purchase.
Silk is a natural and animal protein fibre made by silkworms. It is a luxurious and decadent fabric. Silk is beneficial because it is an anti-microbial, moisture-wicking, temperature regulating breathable fabric. It is also hypoallergenic and less absorbent, preventing the trapping of oil or bacteria on the pillowcase.
Allowing the night creams and other beauty products to fully absorb into your skin and hair, rather than into your cotton pillowcases.
Silk’s weight and density are measured in momme (a Japanese unit of weight equal to 3.75 grams). The higher your silk’s momme (mm), the thicker and more durable- and likely, more expensive it is. Silk typically falls between 15 and 30 momme, with 19 mm being the average starting point. Silk is then graded on an A, B, and C scale. Each letter referencing a different type. Of silk product quality. A being the finest, highest quality silk product and C being the lowest. The Number takes the grading and makes it a step further. For instance, you could have 3A, 5A, or 6A. 6A grade is the highest quality.
